Located at the foot of the splendid and sumptuous Monte Rosa massif, the Gressoney valley in the Aosta Valley has many typical and characteristic features, which contribute to making it a very interesting place to visit during the summer season.
Gressoney offers its visitors postcard landscapes and images with small and large alpine lakes, waterfalls, lush green pastures, all easily reachable with comfortable and easy walks through the woods.
For the more adventurous, it is possible to reach some of the highest alpine peaks in Europe on foot or with the help of the ski lifts, including the Margherita refuge at 4554 m.
The local population has a particular history, of German origin; many typical testimonies of the Walser community can be easily found along the paths and there are finds and documents that can be consulted at various museums throughout the area such as the Walser Ecomuseum.
